Part-Time/Seasonal DEFINITION Come work by the ocean for the beautiful City of Redondo Beach and the Redondo Beach Police Department! The City of Redondo Beach Police Department is currently looking for dedicated, part-time Crossing Guards.
Our Crossing Guards are vital members of the team, helping to ensure the safety and protection of school children and citizens.
Note:
Part-time positions are not eligible for City health and retirement benefits.
Only those applicants in which the department is interested will receive any further notification.
As part of the Police Department, this position requires a background investigation.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS Sample duties include, but are not limited to:
Performs part-time paraprofessional duties safeguarding street crossings during hours when children are going to or coming from school Directs actions of children and traffic at street intersections to assure safe crossing Records and reports to police the license numbers of motor vehicles disregarding traffic signals Places caution signs at designated points before going on duty and removes signs at the end of shift Reports suspicious activity which may occur around school children such as loitering motor vehicles or individuals Reports injuries to children to school or parents Performs other related duties as required MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM

Meet medical standards for the class and physical employment standards; satisfactorily perform required duties including but not limited to working irregular shifts of between several hours per day and as much as four hours per day; read, speak, write and understand the English language; adhere to applicable terms and conditions of employment including but not limited to safety and health regulations, City rules and regulations, policies and procedures; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Candidates for this position will be put through a full background investigation including a Livescan fingerprint check and medical exam.
SELECTION PROCESS:

application review and evaluation, written examination, performance test and interview.
