Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate should possess excellent customer service and communication skills, experience with technology, and the ability to work with children, as well as have a flexible work schedule that may include availability on evenings or weekends.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS The part-time Library Page performs clerical duties including but not limited to:
Shelves books, performs routine book mending and circulation preparation activities Types a variety of simple documents; provides information on programs and activities personally, over the phone, or by letter Receives, distributes, and dispatches mail; checks columns of figures Maintains mailing lists Prepares acknowledgments and replies from form letters Maintains records and files; secures, prepares, records and arranges material for typing Proofreads Operates duplicating machine and other office equipment Performs other related duties MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of:
Modern office practices and procedures; correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; modern filing and indexing methods; organization, functions and purposes of a library.
Ability to:
Perform typing, receptionist, and clerical activities requiring a minimum of independent decision making; meet the public tactfully and courteously and answer questions in person and over the phone; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; type from clear copy; understand written and oral instructions; meet prescribed physical/medical standards for employment; legally operate a motor vehicle in the State of California, and use own motor vehicle for job related activities with mileage reimbursed as required.
Education and
Experience:
Graduation from high school or business school is required.

Application review and evaluation, written examination, performance test and interview.
All employment offers made by the City are contingent upon establishing proof of a prospective candidate's legal authorization to work in the United States and successfully passing all components of the pre-employment process, such as:
reference check, background investigation, fingerprint criminal history check, post-offer drug test, post-offer psychological and post-offer medical examination, the cost of which will be borne by the City.
